Oh Royal Day!

(okay...so not a dude entry...but noteworthy anyway!)

Yes. I was up at 4:30am to watch the Royal Wedding live. It was fantastic and beautiful and totally worth it! My sweet, sweet husband even got up to watch them come out onto the balcony and wave and kiss TWICE! And my precious little dude got up to watch the Royal Air Force do their fly-overs. So we all witnessed this wonderful historic occasion live! WAHOO!

And so of course we had to celebrate! After months of planning and making sure that my girlfriends understood why this was so amazing (most husbands are still scratching their heads)....I got my Royal Slumber Party! The wedding provided the best ever excuse to have a girl's night and it was so much fun! I got to buy PINK stuff! I don't think I have had a sleepover since grad school and maybe not even then. Okay, so my bridal party slept over the night before my wedding and I am sure that counts.

My poor dudes were kicked out of the house and didn't complain once. They spent the night at Grammy and Pop's house and had a fun boy's night with Uncle Matt. No pictures though because I had the camera. Thank you for letting Mommy have a girl's night boys! And thanks to sweet Catherine who proved invaluable in setting up and for bringing so many yummy dips! And thanks to all my girlfriends that came over for a great night, brought lots of yummers, and for wearing the tiaras that I may or may not have insisted that they wear!

AND MAY GOD BLESS THE MARRIAGE OF WILLIAM AND CATHERINE! HUZZAH!

Our little dude totally sensed my excitement all day and thrived on it! When it was time for him to leave though, he found out about the party and asked "but Mommy, how can you have a party without me?" Oh sweet boy. I love you so very much! And yes, I wore my "royal flare" all day, even to bible study!

Heather and Catherine really got into the spirit of things! I love my friends! Note that Heather is absolutely wearing her tiara like a drunk prom queen...with her preggers belly!

I can not explain my goofy smile other than to say I was very happy, had apparently just sat on Heather's shoe, and had been up since 4:30 am. Thanks for the great night ladies!!!!!

Remember When Tuesday: Day Out With Thomas!

Last month we got to take Caleb to the Grapevine Train Station to see Thomas the Train! A Day Out With Thomas is a fantastic event and Caleb couldn't wait to take a ride with his favourite train. Caleb's surrogate siblings, Trevor and Tatum, were there too and they had so much fun on their adventure together! Grammy, Pop and ChaiQi even came to check it out and they bought Caleb his favourite piece of clothing to date, his Thomas hat (which he has slept in twice!). Thank you God for precious memories such as these!



A Perfect Easter

Welcome to our blog! I resisted long enough and have now accepted that a blog really is the best way to share our family adventures with loved ones! And what better time to kick it off than with Easter weekend! It is a slightly long-ish first entry, but if you know me and my scrapbooks....narrowing down pictures is SOOOOO hard! I don't have all of the fancy do-dads yet either, but those are coming! And let me just take a moment to thank sweet Heather for all of the hand-holding and advice in getting this started! So here we go...
Our ingredients for a perfect Easter:

1. Hunt Easter Eggs with one of your bestest friends, McKenna! We had a perfect McKenna Day that started with Caleb cheering her on at her first T-Ball game. They then got all fueled up at Gattitown before heading out to Pizza Hut Park for a massive Easter Egg Hunt. They got tons of eggs, pictures with the Easter Bunny and more marshmallow eggs than we will ever eat (anyone want some?)!

2. Dye Easter Eggs with more of our best buddies on Good Friday. Caleb had his friends Trevor, Tatum, Leah and Emily over to dye Easter Eggs (okay, so Emily just watched). We knew it was off to a great start when they got to watch a construction crew repair a neighbour's sidewalk first. Much fun!

3. Easter Eggstravaganza with Uncle Matt! On Saturday we drove out to Uncle Matt and Aunty Laurel's church for their big Easter fun-fest! Caleb hunted for eggs, played in the petting zoo, played EVERY carnival game, had his face painted (with his favourite animal, a flamingo, in his favourite colour, yellow), and bounced his little heart out! Even Grammy and Pop joined us for some of the fun. Caleb's favourite part was winning a whistle....perhaps not our favourite part though....

4. Easter Egg and Resurrection Cookies! One of our little family traditions is to dye Easter Eggs together and then do resurrection cookies the night before Easter. This year we even had a Jesus figure that he wrapped up and laid in a tomb. He didn't want to leave Jesus in there overnight; we love our compassionate little dude!

5. Easter at home! We have waited six years to celebrate Easter at home and we were so excited to finally get the chance! And it really was perfect! Caleb's first question in the morning was about his resurrection cookies and he was so overjoyed to go out to the kitchen and find that Jesus wasn't in the tomb anymore! We had a perfect day full of yummy food with Grammy, Pop and ChaiQi! Happy Easter Everyone!

P.S. Grammy and Pop achieved the impossible with their Easter basket...which included the Play-Doh ice-cream shop. Caleb sat and played with it for, no joke, over an hour! A three year old entertained with one toy for over an hour! Seriously! Who thought that was possible? For all my friends with preschoolers....GO GET ONE!
