Okay. So maybe not so far away. Caleb did a great job picking out his gift for Brian's birthday. He had no doubt as to where we needed to go for this occasion...Toys R Us of course. Once he saw the Star Wars Light Sabers he had no doubt that Daddy needed them. So that they could have sword fights together. With all of the Star Wars merchandise everywhere, Caleb has taken notice and started to comment on them. Brian and I have discussed many times when he would be old enough to watch the first movie....Anywho, I digress. Caleb was insistent and was very excited to present his gift to Brian. It was a huge hit and they are well broken in now! It is so cute to watch them together. Brian is a great Dad. REALLY GREAT! And this past weekend, we introduced Caleb to the original Star Wars movie. He has not seen it all yet, but he loves it. He ran to get their light sabers and they dueled and watched. My dudes are so much fun. Truly!

Daddy's Mini-Me
Caleb is his Daddy's mini-me. In every way...well almost. There is a bit of me in there too.... I have heard all about little-boy Brian lining up his hot wheels cars...staring down anyone that dared to move one, even a little. I woke up a few weeks ago to find all of Brian's and Caleb's shoes in a very careful line. Apparently Caleb saw Brian's shoes lined up and ran off to get his. So cute! I had to take a picture. LOVE MY BOYS!
And no. He does not have too many shoes. There is no such thing.
Rockstar?
Caleb's preschool choir had a spring musical at our church and we were so excited to see our rockstar spread his wings and fly. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way. It was the first time the four year olds at our church were going to be a part of a musical and they thought it was a good idea to put them through a full dress rehearsal an hour before the performance started. I don't blame them for thinking it would be okay. Really. I didn't think anything of it at the time. Since I dropped off our dude and was saving seats, I got to see him sing and smile and have fun. The problem is, most of those four year olds thought that was the performance. There were so many confused faces, singing to only a few people. Caleb kept mouthing to me "where is Daddy?" I knew we were in trouble when they filed in for the real performance and Caleb's countenance was less than enthusiastic. Despite the fact that both sets of grandparents, his cousins and aunts and uncles were there to see him, Caleb refused to perform. Brian and I did our best to encourage him from the sidelines...but he just kept mouthing to us that he was done, that he wanted to go home, that he didn't want to be there...it was kinda funny. Just wish everyone else got to see him enjoying himself earlier. He got to spend the rest of the day playing with his cousins though. He liked that....
A Trophy Made His Day
There is only one way to console little boys with broken hearts. Their season of soccer was over and it was critical to give them something to celebrate. A party should do it. Yup. That was the answer. So the Red Devils got together at GattiTown (a Caleb fave, so a good choice by Coach!) and had a little trophy presentation. There wasn't a sad face in the house that night. They had a great season and plan to play together again in the fall. Caleb's trophy is displayed in his new playroom and he is eagerly awaiting the chance to add another one...and score a few more goals.
GO RED DEVILS!!!!
Oh To Be An Alford
Oh to be an Alford. An Alford in Frisco that is. There is no shortage of drama and adventures to keep us going and to keep you entertained. Once again the activity here has kept us out of the blogoshere and we apologize for keeping you in the dark. For quite some time we have known that a good friend of ours, and her two daughters, would be moving in with us. We had loads to do around the house to get ready for this and every spare moment was spent painting, moving and even a bit of sleeping. As part of my relaxation therapy, my counsellor had also been encouraging me to do some projects around the house that I felt really motivated to do. To brighten things up, make them fresh and new. A clean start. I was well into the projects when we had to prepare for the new roommates, so there was a crazy week or two of trying to get everything done.
My friend, Stacey (God bless her soul!), came over and helped me paint Caleb's new playroom. I can't wait to do an entry with pictures of his amazing Route 66 man-cave! As of right now it is housing a crib and some decidedly female toys, so I will wait until you can get the full effect. We also put some epoxy on the garage floor. This is something Brian has wanted to do since we moved in, so my parents and his parents helped me make it happen for his birthday. Brian and I spent some great quality time in the garage making it come together and it looks AMAZING. And MANISH! I will post pictures of this too, but he is still working on the maps and pictures on the walls. It feels so good to see him putting a room together that he has wanted for so long. So now the Alford household has two new very manly rooms. I love it. Don't worry. The office is next and I have plans for white on white and a splash of pink.
Our kitchen however, is not done. Right before my friend moved in I had to put this project on hold. It was just too much. I had also just received some new diagnoses that still scare the pants off of me. In one phonecall I was told that I have diabetes, a hypothyroid, and a possibly cancerous thryoid to boot. That is a lot of information y'all. A lot. It takes time to digest. But I am feeling better, digesting the info and we have all settled into life as a family of six. Brian and Caleb are thoroughly outnumbered. Pink is in the house people!
So with that said, I will do my best to add some posts with pictures from a few new Dude Milestones and other Alford fun.
Love you all. Thank you for the prayers, support and encouragement. Chrystal and Shane, watch the mail. I owe you a lot of thank yous and have been far too silent for far too long. I love you lots!
