The Reveal

Last night we finally got to make the Big Reveal to Caleb! We sent him on a treasure hunt where Disney friends gave him a little gift and a clue. The last clue led him to a box and the news that WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

Brian and I have discussed for years at what age we would take The Dude to The World. We really thought 5 or 6 would be perfect, so last Thanksgiving we decided to give this year a real go! Last month we got to make our reservations and we will be there in 115 days...celebrating Caleb's fifth birthday with a week-long vacation of our dreams. The hotel and character meal reservations are made, Caleb's count-down wall is done and we (mostly me) are living, breathing, dreaming Disney. I am memorizing the guide books and we are so excited to finally get to share the news with Caleb and share in the enthusiasm all together. His friends who have been there and done that are giving him all of their worldly advice and WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!! This is going to be a great time for the three of us to escape and bond and make memories to last a lifetime. No pressure Disney World, but we have huge expectations!

This was fun to put together and Caleb loved it. He keeps recreating hunts for us now too!

My favourite part (I was so relieved it worked)! The balloons popped right out of the box when he opened the flaps!

He kept putting the balloons back in the box to do it over and over again. And today, he didn't play with any toy other than that box. Oh...and at this point my camera battery died. Seriously.

Little Olympian

Caleb loves the Olympics. The gymnastics and diving seem to be his favourite. We recorded the opening ceremonies and he really got into the parade of nations. We pulled down his globe and he wanted us to point out all of the countries. He made his mama proud when he cheered super loud and long for the Canadians when they entered! It turned out to be a great opportunity to tell about him about different countries...if they were fighting, friends or if they allowed people to own Bibles.... Maybe it sounds like a boring evening of forced education, but it was not like that at all. The following night we watched syncronized diving and he really got into it...he was jumping off our couch in his own fancy dives until I "requested" he stop. He then piled up pillows and happily carried on. Our marvelous little olympian. He makes everything fun.
